Coaching - What we offer
Personal/Life Coaching
"A collaborative solution-focused, results-orientated and systematic process in which the coach facilitates the enhancement of work performance, life experience, self-directed learning and personal growth of the coachee." (Anthony Grant, University of Sydney, 2000 from the Association for Coaching website)
Executive Coaching
Executive coaching is a professional relationship between a Coach and a senior manager and is based around the area of work performance. The aim is to come up with ideas on the issues that are brought and then make an internal commitment to putting those choices into practice. These can be practical ideas or these might, for example, relate to areas of emotional intelligence such as discussing the impact the executive is having on members of their team.
Corporate/Business Coaching
Similar to executive coaching and the term is often used to refer to work across a broader range of leaders beyond the top executives. It focuses on supporting an employee, either as an individual, or as part of a team and/or organisation to achieve improved business performance and operational effectiveness.
Speciality/Niche Coaching
Here the coach is expert in addressing one particular aspect of a person’s life or focuses on working with a particular section of the population e.g. senior women, the broadcasting industry, financial services. Within our team of associates we have particular expertise for areas such as career coaching (see below), communication skills including writing, talent management and change management. There is also considerable specific experience of working with senior women and women returning to work. The team has worked with a range of organisations in the public and private sector.
Career Coaching
People are drawn to career coaching for many reasons. Some people are planning for their next promotion and want some support in preparing their CV, preparing for presentations and/or group exercises or for the interview. For others, who are seeking a career change, they may have a sense of feeling dissatisfied or stressed, of being unhappy or feeling that their job no longer seems such a good fit.
We will support you whatever your intended outcome. This can involve interview preparation but dependent on your needs this can also include a range of questionnaires. We will help you decide what appeals to you about certain jobs and how they match your values and needs as well as your skills. Alongside using general coaching skills of listening and questioning we will use questionnaires like the Occupational Interests Explorer and Schein’s Career Anchors (see Further details). We also use self-awareness instruments like the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Firo B and the 16PF where that is appropriate for further careers guidance.
Team/Group Coaching
Coaching can also be used for teams for example to work on an issue in common. It can help people gain an insight into the perspectives of other team members and create a common vision or set of goals. It can also help create an environment where individuals can co-coach each other.
